And for your history lesson with the Gadsden/Navy Jack flag:
http://www.navyjack.info/history.html

And with the shop being in Massachusetts and everything I think it is a play on the "tread" and mountain bike tire pun.

Hi Amey - Thanks, yes, it is a nice Buck. I wondered whether to post this picture though ... I'm embarrased about the steerer tube; the photo was taken while I was experimenting with handlebar height!

Fat-Tony - Thanks for the link to the history site. Very interesting.

Happy cycling, Andy

26.4, actually.

It is unique. Even details like the tubes for the chain- and seatstays are split evenly, with silver on one side, charcoal on the other. I grew up in MA, and went to college with a part-time employee, when they were still in Somerville. He bought one of the first Ti frames that Gary Helfrich built, and we often rode together in the Pioneer Valley. His steel Fat is what spurred me to buy mine.

Post 199? Team Fat Chance

Frame type (Yo!, Wicked, etc.): Team Fat Chance
Frame number: 519Y1L
Year of manufacture: early 90's

Frame size: M/L
Color (original and repainted, if applicable): Black
Location (city, state, country): Boston, MA
Owner name: brooks
Photo, if possible: photo to follow, they turned out pretty crappy with my cell phone.

So the story I'm told about this bike is that it was given to a pro by the name of Geo Beckham (sp?) (or something similar) and was one of the last California made Fats.

I'm not sure what year it is. It has a Yo Eddy fork, also black. Its beat to sh!t, the stickers are mostly worn off & the seatpost is stuck. Its about 1/2 inch too high....driving me nuts.

Yours is probably not only the last Fat made in California ...but also the 1st

My guess is it has to be Sommerville, Mass

Frame type (Yo!, Wicked, etc.): Yo!
Frame number: 738Y1S
Year of manufacture: 1991
Frame size: S
Color (original): Teal
Location: Denver, CO USA
Owner name: Josh, original owner (w/ build card somewhere and original brochure)

For those with earlier 90s bikes, the serial # will tell you the year, size, and model if you don't know it.

738 = #738 that year
Y = Yo!
1 = 1991
S = Small

So Brooks, you have a 1991.

I purchased the frame locally and built it with stuff I had kicking around. Paint was done by sneaky Customs in Shaftsbury ,VT . I had the decals made at the local graphics shop before I knew that FatCogs offered them. The fork was purchased on Ebay, I'm not sure what type it is let me know if you know. It's a great ride I had one back in the day and had to get one again. Photos to come.

I GOT IT! After robberies (jumped by some ghetto thugs who had her for 6 mos before she turned up at a bike shop) and floods (Katrina) this bike has seen a lot, but she keeps comin back. I am the original owner. However, she's in need of TLC and I'll be lookin' to restore her. What can I say, I'm a sentimental fool.

Bike: Buckshaver
Year: 94???
Serial #: BS05 (i'm pretty sure -I know she's in the single digits)
Color: RED
Size: XS

Frame appears to be in good shape, beat up a bit. Bottom bracket is solid after 2 weeks of floating in quagmire and then stored under some dudes house >:/

I'm lookin for parts if anyone has any leads (forks, esp), will post progress.

Default Firstflightbike For Sale Section

In the FIRSTFLIGHTBIKE.COM for sale section, a few weeks ago. Crazy I thought but there it was. Been cleaning frame saving ever since, pretty good shape some rust spots on down tube and one near bottom bracket but other than that excellent. Trying to figure out how to build it up now.
