Default stem question

Hello All,

I've got a '91 Monster Fat. I'm thinking about replacing the stem with something a little steeper. My problem is that I can't remember what the diameter needs to be. I haven't replaced any parts on this bike in a very long time. It's a quill stem. Would it be 1 inch or 1 1/8 inch? Anybody know off hand?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Phil
