Hey all,
Just joined the "club". Thought I'd put up some pics of this new bike I got. The history: My parent's friend had this in his basement for 20 years. I remembered it from back then. Recently he pretty much gave this bike, covered in cobwebs and rusty spokes. Hadn't ridden it since the early 90's. I took it to a great repair guy in Chicago. He sanded the rusty spokes expertly, cleaned it up, tuned it up and she was good to go. He said it's an amazing bike. I've been learning as I go along...Turns out it's a 1986 (serial 86039). Guys at bike shop went crazy over it yesterday. Was curious if anyone had an idea of what it might be worth? Also, I'd like to find tires once these wear out. They are avocet city 26 1.9 slicks. I guess hard to find these days...Everything on the bike is original parts, too. The bike shop guys all were excited that all the brakes etc.. were Shimano Deore XT's and Biospace chain system...They explained it all...Excuse my novice status! Anyway, any feedback would be cool... cheers ps-let me know if the pics came through ok |
