Sounds like you've got a 1987 Fat Chance (aka "Kicker") frame. I'm guessing it has the U brake on the bottom of the chain stays. The two standard colors for 1987 were black and light blue, but both came with Yellow Forks and decals. The fork and headset are 1" diameter so you will need to find a rigid 1" mountain bike fork which is a little tough but they are out there. I too have a 1987 kicker frame that is missing the original fork and has a crappy, early suspension fork. Hope you get it back to life.
Cheers, Jon
