Going in to the shop today and start pulling parts off my Wicked.
Have found a local powder coater. Any body have other advise on
things to look for/ be aware of with a restoration. Any tips would be
much appreciated.

look for rust in the seat tube...shine pen light down to see

they will sandblast first and this will take care of most issues

if it is moderate, then powdercoater will give you some options

IF it is bad, then...

....well it will open a can of worms you won't want...

oh and take pix so people can see the progress

Thanks for the info, I will take lots of pics and post them.
Just talking to a guy who recommends painting over powder coating. Hmmm
Any thoughts? Steve

if you are looking for crazy depth then paint. but it probably will not be as durable, and twice the price...

if you are looking to be durable and environ friendly then get a good powdercoat at half the price

Just be careful - powder-wise - that you use someone who's familiar with bikes. I got it done once by folks who mostly did outdoor furniture thinking powder is powder.

Not pretty...

I think I am going to go with a good paint. The issue ahead of me will be replacing
the bottom bracket assembly. Any body have info/tips on replacement parts for this?

Got the 89' Wicked built up today. Next step will be to apply the decal set...then to ride the streets of Boss town.

Decals

Well I'm going to put the decals on this week. I ordered my set from Velocals, and the
instructions that came with them said to use a wetting solution. Having never done this before does anyone have any tips for this process? Thank you all, Steve

Super sweet! I like your build.

I am tempted to say that it looks pretty nice "stealth" without the decals, but I'm sure they'll look great as well. Looking forward to the follow up pics.

Steve, you can get "Decal Set" by Testor's at a local hobby store. Try Michael's over in Newington
