Hello everyone. While i'm awaiting a painter to shoot my Wicked I thought I would share one of my older rides with the Fat Cog world.
Back in '92 I was lucky enough to have a local Marin dealer "sponsor" me for the riding season. My sponsorship was basically a discount on Marin products. One day I received a call that a team frame was available if I wanted it. It arrived as a bare frame, no decals, no information. As you can see it has oversize tubes and a really cool wishbone chainstays. I proceeded to have a local frame builder re-route all the cables on the top tube (it is very muddy in the NW) and paint it a nice red metallic, scored a decal set from Marin, then the dream build ensued:
Frame: 1991 Team Marin Teesdale
Fork: Manitou 1 (from my Yeti) with a Manitou 2 crown. Brodie fork brace.
Seatpost: Generic titanium
Saddle: Marin (Velo) Titanium
Headset: DiaComp Aheadset.
Stem: Syncros
Bars: Bontrager (Titec) Titanium
Bar ends: Scott
Grips: Answer clear
Brakes: Joe's front and back
Brake Levers: Dia Comp ss7
Drivetrain: XT
Cranks: Grafton, Syncromatic crank bolts
Bottom bracket: Shimano
Wheels: Nuke Proof, Mavic 231, Salsa scewers
Tires: Smoke rear, Onza front
Pedals: SPD 1st generation.
Weight was around 25lbs.
I rode and raced this bike off and on until 2008 when I noticed that both of my hubs were cracked. Bummer. It is now rolling with a set of Pulstar hubed wheels a friend gave to me and Smoke/Dart tires The only other replacement was due to a broken a crank arm, which I was lucky enough to have Mr. Grafton send a replacement.
Anyway it is a great bike and I think rare.
Enjoy the pics!
