Default 1987 Fat Chance

serial #87974. I built NOS frame in 2003 with many age correct parts. Can anyone confirm it is an '87 and give any further info??

The serial number confirms it's the 974th built in 1987.

Looks like what I'm building up. I just picked up an 87 Fat that I'm building as a single speed.

What gearing are you running?

I also just picked one up, looks similar except mines an 88 and has a yellow fotk. I'm building mine with a silver CK headset, new BB bearings, xt m730 drivetrain, brakes and hubs on RM20 rims. I happened to have a Strong seatpost which I think came on the bike originally, and a 1987 Turbo saddle.

If you need to rebuild the bottom bracket I found a bearing company online that sells the correct bearings with c clips for about $5/each and they work perfectly.

Can you post a link to the bearing supplier? I need a set.
Thanks

Mine arrived in 3 days and are a perfect fit with the original spindle and BB shell.

Perfect, thanks.

Just picked up another 87 Fat that may need new bearings, I'll find out next week when it arrives.
