Mountain cycle forks and Wicked

A few years back I found a really sweet deal on a fat chance wicked ($100!!!). Suntour pro xc, xt, the works. Anyway it had a pair of inverted mountain cycle forks with front disk brakes. I rode it for a few months but the fork was kinda trashed so I turned the bike into a single speed and put some breezer forks on the front. I am in the middle of restoring it back to its geared glory and need to find a new fork. The breezer always kinda felt strange. Anyway I had it over to my lbs and they said that the fork is to short for it. They seem to think that the frame was sus corrected. This seems strange to me for a c. 1989 bike.
Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

The bike is a little small for me and I always liked the length of the mountain cycles fork better (it has since been lost).

So my question is does anyone have a mountain cycle fork handy to measure (I think they were called suspenders)?

The bike is in storage (i.e. not handy to get at) and I found a good deal on a 419mm pace, but I am not sure if its long enough.

Thanks in advance, Shawn
