Ringle Stem

Does anyone have experiences with Ringle Stems as far as reliability or failures?

The single bolt on the steerer tube clamp concerns me. I'm worried about over tightening it and snapping something or under tightening it and having it move. Does anyone know the correct torque?

It's a cool looking system but after a few test rides, I've been dwelling on it....

I've used Ringle stems on just about every bike I have owned, except this Wicked. I have not ever seen a failure or even had a stem move on me, and I have never ever heard of a Ringle stem failing in any way. Ringle stems are always on my list of parts to find for whatever I currently ride.

This bike will have a Groovy custom on it before next spring, but if it didn't, I'd be searching for a Ringle.

Some current or very recent Thompson stems have the same or very similar setup. It wedges onto the steer and gets it tighter or holds better than the clamp around tighten setup.
Do not be afraid- be glad you have one. :)

Sounds likes 2 thumbs up. I won't worry about it then. I'll just tighten it up and go with it.
Thanks for the good feed back.

hmmm... have you never seen a ringle w/broken handlebar clamp?

Not in ~19 years I have been playing with these things, nope. Then again, I'm not very hard on parts, nor were the guys I used to ride with.

Just an FYI - It is possible to over tighten stems. Just as it applies to car lug nuts.
