Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I picked up a frame yesterday at an estate sale and although there's a fat city sticker on the head tube, there's also just a comp sticker on the top tube. There's a rubber skirt between the head tube and fork. What's puzzling is there are two letters before the serial number. The # is gz873116. Is this a fat city or did someone repaint and throw some decals on it. On the seat tube there is also a fat city decal, made in Somerville, mass. These are the only decals on the bike. thanks in advance. I'll try to post some pics later, unfortunately I'm not the most computer savvy guy out there.

Unfortunately it's not a Fat.
The biggest tell is the chainstays and seatstays where they meet the rear dropout. Fats have bulleted ends at the dropout and no vent holes (look at the end of the stays).

Thanks for your help, I wasn't to confident about it to begin with, but for 5 bucks it was worth a shot. Plus I got a pair of 27 inch alloy wheels in the deal so not a total lost. Thanks again.

Glad to help, sounds like a bargain with the wheels.

Nope, those butt ugly welds are not a product of Somerville!
