Just found this site; what an awesome resource! I've owned my Fat since 1991 or 92. I bought it used and thought it was an 86 or 87 Wicked, but it may be a Fat Chance. I recently resurrected it for commuting, and have it set up as a 1 x 7 with a mix of older and newer parts.
I ended up here while searching for decals; mine are pretty scratched up. That got me wondering what model I have, and here I am. The serial number (photo attached) appears to be 74354, which doesn't seem to square with any of the serial number methods used over the years. Any help appreciated! On closer inspection it's possible the second digit is a '1', so the serial number could be 71354.

I think the first number is covered - when it was repainted? - or missing.
Looks like an 87 Fat Chance to me. |

Thanks. I looked everywhere for an 8, but couldn't find any marks where it might have been. Regardless, 87 Fat Chance sounds like a good assumption.
