Lecture given by Chris Chance on YouTube

Found these videos today of Chris Chance giving a lecture on early mountain bike history and the history of his brand. They only had about 100 views, so I figured I would post them for you all. It's a three part lecture:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6JKbBN-VBc

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bkTSK3dYwI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aku5kAXod30

Edit: There is a fourth part as well that I just saw. Can't copy and paste the URL, as it didn't come up in search results and I'm on a phone. Should be able to find it on YouTube.

Wow, those were great! It made me wonder though, why did Chris stop making bikes after Fat went under, and what has he been doing since then?

Garden furniture and Reiki so the legend goes... he moved to Marin, California and he seems to be re-emerging over the past 18 months or so with appearances at bike things.

Fantastic videos. Really enjoyed them and it gives a fascinating insight into his mindset and personality. Lots of blanks filled in and it all makes sense, kind of like I hoped it would actually. I have two copies of the Jim Espey poster, great to see that come up !

Hope he returns to making bikes by hand with soul :)

jeez i thought he had opened a backcracking practice...to undo all the years of pounding dished out by YO Eddy's responsive and unforgiving geometry.

Actually Chris broke his neck while doing a riding demo at some BMX event in Maine way way back. Apparently, the hospital sent him on his way after examining him, then called him later in a panic after realizing that somebody missed seeing the neck fracture on an xray!

He always wore a scarf or neck wrap whenever it was cold out so it wouldn't stiffen up on him.

Enjoy

Too cool! In Part 2 at 5:50 Chris uses my Fat Cogs post as an example of a guy who changes his mind about selling his Fat Chance.
